Home again – naturally

Hello everyone, I am sorry I have been home for over a week and I am just getting around to posting. I’ve been busy getting caught up and back on my normal schedule. The trip home was a miracle as far as I am concerned. In Delhi the airline tried to get me to stay over for a day. I had to be very firm about my flight confirmation. They said that they could get me to Frankfurt but not to Chicago and they would not pay for a hotel in Frankfurt. They encouraged me to stay in Delhi, but I would be stuck at the airport there anyway. Well after talking to 5 people (and a lot of prayer) I finally got on the flight to Frankfurt, I was so happy. Once I made it to Frankfurt I had to pick up my baggage since they did not have me booked on a connecting flight and go through customs. Go around to the part of the airport where I could check in (sounds easy and quick but it’s not). I got to the airline counter and after a short wait in line found out they had found me a flight with Lufthansa Airlines and it left in 2 hours. Then I had to rush and get bags checked call Appleton to let Howie and Myra know about the change in plans (1:30 AM for them, I felt bad). Go through security and customs again for exiting Germany and made it to the terminal with 5 minutes to spare before they started boarding… whew. I feel God was with me every step of the way, blessing and making the path level for me to return home. Tim picked me up in Chicago and the first exit I saw with a Culver’s’ sign I told him to pull over I NEED beef. It was one of the best cheddar burgers I’ve had in a long time, funny how it can be that way after only 18 days. I guess it’s all in my head, but it sure tasted great to my mouth. :-p

I am getting my pictures and some video together for a presentation for the church. And a longer one for friends and family, I hope to show them soon.

I am praying for direction and God’s will for the future, please keep me in your prayers so I stay in the center of His will.

New Delhi

Hi all, I am at the airport in Delhi, waiting…………………. for 8 hours for the next flight. But at least there is a next flight and ON TIME. Praise the Lord, He is so good to me. It looks like I will be home on schedule. I am looking forward to a Culver’s burger in the worst way. ;-)

See you all soon,

Dan

Day trip

Yesterday I went into the mountains for a day trip. I have a new appreciation for US roads!! It was like a roller coaster ride without the safety features. Many times I looked down 100+ feet and I mean right from the vehicle. And the road at times didn’t look wide enough for one vehicle more or less two and one being a truck. Look for pictures and some movies when I get back.

Looking forward to home

Dear family and friends, as you can guess the last week or so has renewed my appreciation for the USA. I thought I never took “home” for granted until the last few days. The last 10 days or so has given me a new insight in to just how good we have it in the US. While I was in the Navy I thought I had learned to appreciate the USA while traveling the Far East. But I was always just a little ways away from the ship so I was “safe”. There was always a safety net waiting for me with food, shelter, and fellow Americans. Someone would come for me if something happened. But now the last couple of days the US has been taken into even deeper application. The thought that my return home is possibly blocked by a volcano takes it to a whole new level. Home all of a sudden seems a million miles away. I am having to trust (have faith) in God like never before. Please pray for my safe and prompt return home later this week.

I have posted a couple of more pictures check them out.

Sunday is last day of ministery

Hello all, I ministered to local church leaders and Pastors and many of the church today. It went well, but I sure think it could have been better. At times I feel I have not given everyone the quality of ministering I should. I keep reminding myself this is the first trip and I am learning about the people here and how to minister to them. I pray if God sends me again I am more effective in ministering His Word.

The volcano may put a crimp in my plans, many flights are delayed in Europe. Please pray for traveling mercies for me in the coming days.

I hope to post more pictures in a couple of days check back for them.

Going down the final stretch

Hello all, I have just a few more days left here it is going fast. I will be ministering two more times, tomorrow to a leadership conference and Sunday to the local church. Please pray that I speak what the Father wants to to say. The leadership conference is a gathering of the local believers and pastors from many churches of all faiths. There will be fellowship, food and the Word. Sunday we are taking communion, baptizing and celebrating that, as well as the normal service.

I will also be doing some sightseeing on Saturday and Monday going into the mountains. I should be able to get some great pictures!! I may try to come home early if I can get a flight on Tuesday, since I will be done ministering. That will get me home on Wednesday the 21st.

Look for at least one more post with pictures. I am looking forward to talking about my trip here and the work that is being done by Isaac and his family here in India.

Keep praying for me please.

Quick post

Hello family and friends, I have been ministering to the youth at the Bible school the last two days. There are about 8-10 coming to class while I am here. The first day I used a CD from Rhema where Doug Jones talked about walking in Christian love and how it is different from the worlds love. It was well received. Tomorrow we are viewing a video of Kenneth Hagin Sr about the Holy Spirit, it should be great.

I am doing better sleeping and eating I feel much better except for the heat, thank God for air conditioning when I get back to my room. I do not say that lightly!!

I will write again soon, God bless.

Roughing it – 2nd posting today

Well, I’ve had a tough time posting the last few days. Between the power outages, internet outages, and the Internet Cafe being closed, it has been hard to keep you all informed. I have been writing the postings in my hotel room before I go the the Internet Cafe to save time and not miss what I wanted to say. So today there will be two postings so you may want to scroll down to read the earlier one first.

Sunday I was honored to give the message at the church while Pastor Julius interpreted for me. I was humbled to be given the honor to speak to his flock and the message given (Believers duty) was well received. There were about 40-50 believers in attendance.
Worship time was awesome!! Even though I did not understand some of the songs they did in their own tongue (or even in English sometimes) the enthusiasm and their hearts for God really showed. Speaking of showed, I could feel a strong, loving, tangible presence of God. They worship whole heartedly and God inhabits their praises whole heartedly. With all the polish and resources we have in the US in worship, they make up for with enthusiasms. What a contrast to Pathways where we have lights, big screens, cameras, and a worship team with some of the best equipment. Here there are no lights, a black board for the worship songs list, and if you seen some of the equipment they use you would be surprised they play music at all. One small amplifier for two microphones, guitar and keyboard, a drum set that has seen much better days and some bong-go drums. But what a sweet music it was to God’s ears because He came to visit.

Tomorrow I start teaching the Bible School students. There are 5 students 17 and older attending for bible training The school had their second graduation this last year, I believe it was 7 students . I will follow up with more information in the days ahead. I’m sure that I will be challenged by the Bible School students in the next few days, I have seen their hunger for the Word of God and they will be drawing every ounce of what they can get out of me. Please pray for me to be able to feed them the Word that God has for them.

I am posting one more picture today, Pastor Julius and me preaching the Word Sunday. Notice on the table is the offering. The rice is there because when they prepare it for themselves they take a handful for the poor and needy and put it in a container and bring it to the church. When I think of the sacrifice some of them bring in giving, I feel small. When I think that some of them maybe eating less, when there is little to eat to begin with, it causes me to search my own heart about giving in sacrifice, because for some of them it is a real sacrifice.

I will post again as soon as possible. (if possible)

Three days of teaching children

Hello family and friends, I have just finished three days of teaching the children. It was a special program where they sang for me and I taught them, I know it was a nice break from normal classes for them. There were about 83 children there everyday. It was three sessions with songs before each teaching and a meal served. The first day I taught on the love of Father God, second day was Jesus example showing us the heart of the Father, and the third day was the Holy Spirit living in us showing us the Fathers heart now. I wanted them to know just how much Abba Father loves them and wants to provide for them.

They are all a real blessing to the Lord. When they have worship time singing and dancing they light up the room. They were bashful with me the first day but by the third day they would laugh with me. The time with them touched me deeply. I am posting a picture of them from the last day of the program standing in front of the school. Since Saturday was an extra day they are not wearing the school uniforms, so they look more like normal children to me.

I have some video but it was not very good quality, mostly my fault for not watching the camera screen instead of the children. But I am hoping with some help to edit what I have and share it with you all when I get back.

In between the sessions on the second day I met a man that had spent 18 years in the Indian Army. He is suffering from the experience, he spent 3 years on the Kashmir front fighting. Isaac has been sharing the Gospel with him and asked me to go speak to him, too. Right away I shared that I was a veteran as well in the US Navy. The Spirit of God was leading me. Right away I could see how much the fighting had hurt his heart. I shared my testimony with him and he listened very intently. He said he wanted to make me a special meal after the service this Sunday, since he had been to cooking school he knows western cooking, how could I resist and I accepted. We had rush back to the school for the next session so I was not able to share everything I wanted to with him. But right after the last session he showed up at the school and wanted to talk. I was able to share more of what the love of God can do to heal his heart and he said he would be at church tomorrow to listen to me. I am praying tomorrow he accepts the Lord and finds peace for his troubled soul. Please join me in prayer for Gopal and his wife Kabita that they might accept Christ together.

Well that is it for today, check the Joshi Mission Gallery for a couple of new pictures I am posting.
